MyMedicare is a new, free, and voluntary patient registration model designed to strengthen the relationship between you, your general practice, GP, and primary care team. It aims to improve your healthcare experience by fostering greater continuity of care.

What is MyMedicare?
MyMedicare is a way to formalise your relationship with our practice and your preferred GP. It helps us provide you with more tailored, continuous care, and unlocks additional government funding to support those services.
How to register for MyMedicare
You have two convenient ways to register for MyMedicare: online through your MyGov account or directly with your General Practitioner.
You can also change your nominated practice or withdraw from MyMedicare at any time.
Registering for MyMedicare Online
To register for MyMedicare online, follow these steps:
- Sign in to your MyGov account.
- Select Medicare.
- Choose the View MyMedicare quick link, then select Start.
- Under “Search for your practice,” select The Woods Medical Centre, then Next. (If you’re having trouble, check the helpful hints for assistance) (If you’re having trouble, check the helpful hints for assistance.)
- Select your preferred GP, then Next.
Once you submit, our team will be notified to accept your registration.
You can also register at our Practice.
Simply speak to our friendly reception team on your next visit. We can assist you with the registration process and complete the MyMedicare form.

Access longer telehealth consultations funded by the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) when you connect with your registered practice. - Improved Aged Care Support
From August 2024, residents in aged care facilities will benefit from more frequent GP visits and enhanced care planning. - Improved Support for Frequent Hospital Users
Starting mid-2024, patients who frequently visit hospitals will have access to more appropriate care within general practice settings.
MyMedicare aims to connect you with more appropriate care in general practice. Eligibility is simple! You’re likely eligible if you have a Medicare card (or DVA Veteran card) and have had two face-to-face visits at our practice in the last 24 months. (One visit applies for practices in remote locations.)

Important Note: Registering for MyMedicare does not tie you to our practice for all your healthcare needs. You can still visit other doctors or clinics when necessary. The MyMedicare benefits will apply when you see us as your registered practice.
